Day 64 - The First Spot Has Arrived
June 6, 2006

Well, the new site has been uploaded and I'm getting some great feedback about the look and about my third transplant results.
I actually forgot that people hadn't seen the results and the last photo uploaded was in January 2006.
Hair is looking and feeling great and apart from a single spot on top, everything is well on the way to a full head of hair.
The fur has started to develope and within another couple of months, that will be replaced by thick hair.
I am one very happy chappy!
Day 65 - Heading Towards Stage 2 Of Hair Growth
June 7, 2006
Getting some great feedback so thank you guys.
Hair is really starting to motor with the shadow definately visible. I would say I'm at mid term stage now, so only 2 months until it comes through thick.

Just for information, once you have a hair transplant, hair grows through in three stages:
Baby hair (vellus)
This is between 1 and 3 months post procedure and the hair is very fine, transparent and "fur" like to the touch.
In comparison, it is like the hair on your nose - you know it's there but it is almost invisible. This hair grows no longer than a couple of millimetres.
Mid Term/Stage
This normally comes through between 2 to 4 months after the procedure
(the stage I am just starting at now).
This is still fine hair and very soft. It grows only around a centimetre maximum and is normally blond or a much lighter shade than your natural hair colour.
Becasue it is thicker than vellus hair, it causes a shadow effect on your scalp.
Terminus/Final stage
This is when the fun starts. The hair is identicle to the hair at the back of your head and grows at the same rate.
Starting around 4 to 6 months, it can firstly feel like bristles and then once it starts to grow (around 1/2 inch a month)'it'becomes thicker than the surrounding hair.
Day 71 - Cooling Down
June 13, 2006

After a long weekend in London, when the average temperature was 30 degrees back to normality in Birmingham
Hair still great. I've parted my hair a little on the right hand photo to show the gaps starting to fill in with a shadow. Definately at stage 2 now and I reckon only 6 weeks to go until no gaps are visible.
Shock lost hair coming back already so I'm happy
Day 72 - Here It Comes.
June 14, 2006

Took these photos in full light (from the window and sunroof)
You can see the fluff/shadow coming through on top - look s almost like I have a dirty scalp as it
is darker with all the hair roots starting to show through.
Day 73 - A Few Little Spots
June 15, 2006

This is what my hair is like first thing in the morning without product or styling.
Noticing a few little spots coming through on my scalp which are (according to my GP) small cysts where the hair is trying to come through but is stopped by the skin growing over and not letting it out.
Completely normal as I had around 6 after my first procedure and around the same after the second.
Easy to deal with, a very gentle squeeze and they're gone.
Day 74 - The Wet Look
June 16, 2006

Just out of the bath and hair is soaking wet. Not bad eh?
Cysts have gone and another one starting to appear.
Hair has still got to thicken a fair bit but realistically at this stage none of the hair has come through yet.
I'm still happy and upbeat but getting impatient.
Day 75 - Close Up
June 17, 2006

Tried to blow up a picture of my hair and scalp. Not bad considering I still have around 5000 hairs still to come through.
Q: Who's gonna have a really good head of hair?
A: Me!
Day 76 - Father's Day
June 18, 2006

It's amazing really that since I've had hair, I've spent a small fortune on hair gels, waxes and a multitude of styling products - obviously cathcing up with the missed opportunities.
Although I won't list all the products I have tried, suffice to say, I've done a full circle and gone back to Fudge.
Been at my folks today at a fathers day get together.
Was told how good I looked and I genuinely feel great inside.
Day 77 - Need A New Style
June 19, 2006

I'm looking for a new hairstyle!
I've been going through my old journal entries and have found my old dream hairstyle - a style I wanted after my first transplant:

Not long to go and I'll have exactly this - nice!
Day 78 - A Change
June 20, 2006

Finished my job today in Birmingham and am now deciding what to do.
Getting very tempted to become more involved in Hair Transplantation.
The great thing about having a hair transplant is that it gives you a boost and so much confidence - something that was lacking from my life for years.
Well I'm off to Greece next week for a holiday in Athens and plenty of R&R on Mykonos, I'm sure I'll have lots of time to decide my new direction in life.
Day 79 - Hairs-a-comin'
June 21, 2006

Hair is coming through and scalp is getting very furry.
Only a few days to go until I fly out to the sun and the hair is looking great and the confidence is high.
Comparing to 79 days after my first hair transplant procedure and it looks like I'm completely on track.

Day 80 - The New Hairstyle
June 22, 2006

The new hairstyle has arrived. Really happy with the new look.
Day 81 - Good Hair Day
June 23, 2006

Loving the new hairstyle and it is so easy to style.
I am amazed how good the hair looks and I still have 1000's hairs to come through.
The spots (wens) are a little annoying but I know they'll stop coming through after a few more weeks.
Day 82 - The Shadow
June 24, 2006

The shadow is definately coming so I know for sure that the hair is preparing to come through.
The shadow is made up of new hair, mid and vellus hair and the dark root.
At this stage (from past experience) it is normally a month until a huge difference can be seen.
Day 83 - Hair Brain?
June 25, 2006

What a day today, drove up to Manchester to catch my flight to Greece, arrived at the airport only to find that my flight was not listed on the Departure board.
How strange'
Checked the other 2 terminals and the airport information yet still not flight.
Double checked my ticket and realised that the arrival in Athens was at 4am on 27th July NOT 26th July - I'd arrived 24hours early.
Ooops
Frustrating but we both saw the funny side. Travelled back home (arround 1.5 hours drive) and will do the same tomorrow.
Day 84 - Flying To Greece
June 26, 2006

Well if I've got my flights right this time, I'm off to Greece for a couple of weeks in the sun...nice!
Hair is great, spots have all but gone and I feel great.
Hair is definately looking better and am using a lot less Fudge (hair gel) so that can only mean there is more hair.
Day 85 - The Clinic's 5* Hotel
June 27, 2006

Well, after a long trip to Athens and being transfered (courtesy of the clinic) to the hotel, these are the superb views I was greeted with. FANTASTIC!

As you can see, I'm overjoyed!
Day 87 - The Boat!
June 29, 2006

Ok, this thing above me scared the living daylights out of me! I'm not good with boats and it took Warwick (the clinic's UK Manager) buying me 2 whiskeys and lots of persuation to board.

Once on (and very merry) it wasn't so bad.
Hey, check out the hair. Even with direct downlighting, my scalp is becoming more and more comouflaged with the new "fur" hair growth.
Mykonos here we come!
Day 88 - Mykonos With Hair
June 30, 2006
Just a quick entry as the bars are calling me :)
Last time I was on Mykonos I had had my third hair transplant and came here for recovery.
It is now the height of the season, the place is much busier, I am hairier and my confidence is so high.
Thanks Alex
